1. Peng Jia Zhou
Heads up, Easties. Peng Jia Zhou is a new addition to ESR BizPark Chai Chee, a 15-minute walk away from Bedok MRT Station. This new food court stall offers unique DIY congee priced from just $5 for 100g of ingredients. Essentially, this means the porridge is free of charge!
The concept is similar to mala hotpot, where you get to select the liao from a display at the counter. Thereafter, the staff will cook your chosen ingredients together with your porridge. During our visit, we could pick from over 15 items, ranging from pork liver and beef slices to dory fish and fresh veggies. We also recommend adding a side of Youtiao ($0.80), which is made by hand on the premises. These deep-fried fritters were crispy on the outside and light in the middle, soaking up the delicious congee.

2. Yuen Yeung
Recently opened in late February 2024 is Yuen Yueng, a TikTok-viral Chinese dessert cafe. Best known for its IG-worthy dessert bowls, the cafe offers both traditional and modern Chinese desserts, with the most affordable being the Pure-Fresh Milk Double Layer Milk Pudding ($4.20+).
If you are a matcha latte girlie, go straight for the Matcha Mochi Peaks ($6.40+), served with matcha ice cream atop a creamy white rice mochi paste, and topped with a generous amount of QQ brown sugar pearls. If you’re on Team Pistachio, opt for the Pistachio Paste ($8.60+) instead, which comes as a nutty, creamy, and sweet-savoury paste topped with salted pistachio bits. The dish wasn’t as cloying as we had expected and is suitable even for those new to pistachio.
Yuen Yeung is conveniently located along Neil Road, just a three-minute walk from Maxwell MRT Station.

3. Goodwood Park Hotel
ICYMI: the annual Durian Fiesta by Goodwood Park Hotel is back! Look forward to an exciting lineup of durian-infused desserts for takeaway and dine-in, along with a showstopping durian buffet held at Coffee Lounge till 10 August 2025. The durian buffet costs $65++ per adult and $39++ per child. It is available for dinner on Fridays, lunch on Sundays, and both lunch and dinner on Saturdays.
A highlight this year is D24 Sourdough Pizza, a sweet-savoury pairing of pepperoni pizza with creamy durian paste. We were surprised by how well the sweetness of the durian paste complemented the savoury pizza! Other returning favourites include the D24 Puff—creamy D24 mousse sandwiched between fluffy choux pastry—and D42 Mousse Cake.

4. Wilmar International Headquarters Staff Canteen
If you work or reside near Buona Vista, consider dropping by Wilmar International Headquarters. Their staff canteen, which is also open to the public, offers an all-you-can-eat economic rice buffet priced at just $7 per person. The lunch buffet opens from 11:30am, but we recommend heading down earlier to avoid the queue. After making payment, you can pile on as much food as you want for the first time. No seconds or thirds are allowed, though you can rejoin the line and pay $7 for another round of cai png.
During our visit, there were seven items on display, featuring a good mix of carbs, veggies, and proteins. Do note that the toppings change daily, so you’ll likely be enjoying different dishes each time you return.

Available across all outlets from now till 28 March 2026, the four dishes are Misoyaki Galmaegisal, Buchaesal Sotbap, Nuruk So Anchangsal, and Makkoli Sorbet.
You can enjoy Chef Yoon’s dishes in three different ways: Pork Set ($98++), Beef Set ($128++), or the Pork and Beef Set ($118++). We recommend the latter to get the best of both worlds!

6. Great Nanyang Heritage Cafe
We’re excited about Great Nanyang Heritage Cafe‘s upcoming opening at Geneo, a new development at Singapore Science Park. This restaurant marks the homegrown brand’s third outlet, which follows their successful launch in Somerset.
We don’t have much information about the upcoming Kent Ridge branch yet, but we’ve heard there’ll be outlet-exclusive items sold here, including Steamed Roti and Penang White Curry Noodles. Hopefully, the new restaurant will also offer the chain’s best-sellers such as Signature Hainanese Chicken Cutlet ($15.90+) and Hor Ka Sai (from $3+), a rich and creamy blend of coffee and Milo.

7. Knead Kopi
Home-based cafes seem to be the in-thing this year, with budding bakers and baristas setting up shop at the comfort of their homes. One new addition to the scene is Knead Kopi, an old-school home cafe set in a front yard in Bukit Timah.
For brekkie, we recommend their Set One ($8.50), comprising three pieces of baguette with homemade kaya and butter, two soft-boiled eggs, and a choice of kopi or teh. Alternatively, consider the small selection of light bites, including Egg Tart ($2.50) and Mochi Brownies ($5).
Do note that the cafe is closed from now till 7 April, and will reopen on 8 April.

Good news for fans of Maji Curry: the famous Japanese curry chain has opened their second outpost in Singapore, this time in Funan. The award-winning brand first rose to fame in 2018, when they won the Kanda Curry Grand Prix, an annual curry competition in Japan.
A must-order is the Hamburger Steak Cheese Sauce Curry Rice (from $14.30++), where rich cheese fondue is poured over Japanese curry rice and juicy hamburger steak, making each bite rich and flavourful. There’s also the Tonkatsu Omelette Curry (from $14.50++), a crowd-favourite dish comprising fluffy omelette with creamy curry rice and crispy pork katsu.

10. Bateel
Dubai-famous date shop Bateel is now in Singapore! Located in the basement of Takashimaya Shopping Centre, the new kiosk offers seven types of dates here, all featuring different textures and flavours.
For instance, medjool is chewy and moderately sweet, while kholas is soft and smooth with a strong toffee flavour. There’s also segai that’s firm and sweet, or wanan identified by its dark, wrinkled skin and mildly sweet aftertaste.
I’m not the biggest fan of dates, but my recent visit to Bateel in Orchard might have just converted me. If you didn’t know, Bateel is a popular gourmet date brand from Dubai with more than 170 outlets worldwide. They specialise in organic dates in a wide range of flavours, which you can now find in the basement of Takashimaya Shopping Centre.
Prices differ depending on what you get, but you can mix and match to try a bit of everything. Our favourite flavours were the macadamia-stuffed dates and pistachio-stuffed dates. Besides dates, you can also try the Hazelnut Kunafa Choco Bar ($9.50+), a made-in-Dubai treat starring crunchy kunafa bits and creamy hazelnut sauce.
