If you have been craving one of Seoul Yummy’s comforting stews, you’ve got the next two months to head there for a final taste.
The homegrown Korean food chain will be closing its final outlet after 18 years of operations.
The outlet at Kallang Wave Mall will shutter on Oct 22, Seoul Yummy said in a media release on Monday (Sept 7).
“From its early days to its final chapter, Seoul Yummy has remained a familiar name for those who grew up enjoying Korean cuisine with family and friends,” said the chain.
“Its closure marks the end of an era for a homegrown brand that helped shape Singapore’s love for Korean food.”
Seoul Yummy opened in 2008 and had seven branches by 2016, including outlets at Bugis+ and ION Orchard.
Gratify Group, which runs Seoul Yummy alongside Korean chain Pizza Maru, told CNA that it has been closing Seoul Yummy outlets progressively as leases expire.
Kallang Wave Mall is currently undergoing a revamp, slated for completion in 2028.
“We decided to focus our efforts on growing other brands and concepts in Gratify Group to stay competitive and relevant to changing consumer preferences,” said Frank Lau, CEO of Gratify Group.
Seoul Yummy is known for serving up communal-style Korean Army Stew, a dish it helped popularise in Singapore.
Some other dishes on its menu include Jajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce) and Kimchi Fried Rice.
Celebrating 18 years of memories, Seoul Yummy is giving 18 per cent off its signature Korean Army Stew to dine-in customers.
The promotion ends on its last day of service.
