Since The Exchange TRX opened in Nov 2023, it’s steadily risen to become one of the most beloved malls in KL. Lavish design and stacked line-up of over 400 stores aside, the mall’s direct connectivity to the Tun Razak Exchange MRT Station is a huge reason why it’s packed even on weekdays.
While this spot leans pretty atas, it offers plenty of affordable options to cater to those on a budget. Although that’s not to say its extensive selection of high-quality food spots aren’t worth the splurge every once in a while.
With that, we present to you: 10 best makan places in The Exchange TRX. Bon appetit!
1. Zok Noodle House (L2.65)
There’s something incredibly satisfying about a noisy noodle slurp, and Zok Noodle House knows exactly how to guarantee you that joy.
Founded in 2011 by 4 chef friends with a shared passion for authentic Hong Kong and Macau-style fare, this popular joint dishes out springy wonton noodles, comforting dim sum and hearty rice meals that’ll hit the spot whether you’re after a quick bite or a full-on feast.
The name “Zok” (足料) translates to “sufficient ingredients” — a promise that every dish is made with high-quality ingredients and no corners cut. And clearly, that philosophy has paid off, as the brand has cemented itself as a household name across the Klang Valley.
The proof is in the numbers, too: in 2025, they were inducted into the Malaysia Book of Records for selling over one million handmade wontons in a single year.
The Fresh Prawn Wonton Noodles (RM19.50), available in Soup and Dry variations, is your ticket into the millions club. And trust us, you won’t want to leave.
My order of the Dry variation came with springy strands of mee kia coated in a sweet-savoury sauce that exuded an unmistakable old-school Hong Kong charm. It’s served with a warm bowl of soup that’s light yet flavourful, packed with a sweet briny depth reminiscent of hae mee broth.
But oh, the wontons were the real showstoppers — each one plump, silky and generously stuffed with a mix of juicy pork and snappy prawn in a perfectly portioned 8:2 ratio. Their record needs no explanation.
A spice lover’s dream, Zok’s Curry Noodles (RM20.50) packs a punch from the first sip. The rempah-heavy broth brings a potent oomph — not for the intolerant, but enjoyable once you settle into its groove.
It comes loaded with toppings like tau kee, tau pok, long beans, taugeh, cockles, more of those famed wontons and slices of char siew with a pleasant caramelised sweetness and a great meat-fat ratio. Wonton Noodles are the crowd-favourite noodle choice, though they do soften quickly, so slurp fast if you’re going that route.
Don’t let its plain appearance fool you — the Spicy Soup Pork Noodles (RM20.90) can be described with just one word: shiok! The broth has a bak kut teh flair, delivering a robust garlicky warmth and a peppery punch that’ll please anyone who loves taking the heat.
It comes loaded with a bounty of pork: patty-sized minced pork hunks bursting with notes of pepper and garlic, tender lean pork slices and well-cleaned offal. Mi Xian is the go-to noodle pick here, and for good reason. Soft, slurp-worthy and silky, it pairs incredibly with the broth. An underdog I didn’t expect to love, but fully devoured.
Seeing double? While the Pork Belly Noodles w/ Wine (RM20.90) may look like the Spicy Soup Pork Noodles at first glance, it certainly brings its own finesse to the table. The broth is smooth and creamy, laced with a pronounced shao xing aroma that complements the porky profile.
You’ll find familiar toppings here, but the main character is the thinly sliced pork belly that’s tender and toothsome in all the right ways.
Finally, don’t sleep on the Portuguese Egg Tart (RM4.50). Its crisp, flaky crust holds up like a champ, while the silky custard is bruléed to a tee. Sweet but not cloyingly so, this toasty treat might just earn a spot on your favourites list like it did mine, and possibly have you eyeing the rest of their dim sum too.

3. Oriental Kopi (C.45 & C.46)

We know, we know. You’re probably thinking: Oriental Kopi, again? But hear us out. As with any popular chain — think Nando’s or KFC — some outlets just do it better. When it comes to Oriental Kopi, this one at The Exchange TRX is one we swear by.

Unless you live under a rock, you’ve probably eaten at, or at least heard of this kopitiam. Of their many timeless kopitiam classics, a must-try is none other than the Oriental Signature Nasi Lemak (RM18.97). Every plate is served with a quarter piece of succulent ayam goreng berempah and a sunny-side egg atop fragrant coconut rice, sambal, ikan bilis, peanuts and cucumber slices.
Or if you’re more of a noodle person, the Oriental Curry Laksa Mee (RM16.85) is a great alternative.

Consider it mandatory to finish your meal with their famed Oriental Egg Tart (RM9.80 for 2 pieces), which has made it into the Malaysian Book of Records for its thick crust of a whopping 128 layers. The titular Oriental Kopi (RM10.49) is a must as well.

4. Samtai YAMCH’A (C.13)

Ah, another kopitiam-style eatery because we can never have too many. Samtai YAMCH’A is just the place if you’re on the hunt for a cosy spot serving all the works. You’re in luck, too, as their outlet at The Exchange TRX has our vote for one of their best.

While Samtai YAMCH’A is touted as a dim sum speciality restaurant, we must say that their other dishes are absolutely phenomenal. Crowd favourites include Nasi Lemak Fried Chicken (RM25.80), served with a whole chicken leg, Fried Rice with Salted Chicken Chop (RM25.800 and their delectable Mee Tarik options.

8. Chica Bonita Elegante (L2.51)

Whether you’re already a fan of Mexican culture or diving into it for the first time, Chica Bonita is guaranteed to wow you. Inspired by the vibrant energy of authentic Mexican celebrations like Día de los Muertos and Cinco de Mayo, this spot nails the festive vibe with flair.

Step inside, and you’re greeted by an explosion of colour and culture. The decor is a feast for the eyes, featuring traditional Mexican motifs like moons, indigenous symbols and animals. The intricately painted skulls are a standout, turning the concept of death into a bold celebration of life — perfectly capturing Mexico’s rich and timeless heritage.

But let’s get to the real main characters: the food! Chica Bonita’s menu is a flavour-packed adventure you don’t want to miss. The Burritos Chingones (from RM23) are a must-try — a hefty 12-inch flour tortilla loaded with your choice of filling (Chicken, Beef, Shrimp, Mushroom, or Pumpkin), plus cheese, rice, frijoles, lettuce and salsa roja for that extra kick.
Other showstoppers include the Enchiladas ta Loca (from RM30), featuring 3 corn tortillas smothered in salsa, cheese, and pico de gallo and the sizzling Fajitas (from RM46), a vibrant mix of onions, bell peppers, and your chosen protein, served with guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo, cheese, pickled jalapenos and warm tortillas.
