1. Noci

noci-pasta-bar-fresh-pasta

Noci, the first Korean pasta bar in Singapore, has found a home at Suntec City. You can expect handmade pasta and pizza amid a simple yet stunning space that will make you feel like you’re momentarily in Seoul.

noci-pasta-bar-Tomato-Stracciatella

To start, we recommend the Ricotta Crostini (14++), featuring chewy sourdough slices with whipped ricotta cream, Maldon salt, and a bit of olive oil. As for mains, there’s the sweet-tangy Tomato Stracciatella ($26++), which was slightly mild in flavour—best enjoyed with the classic Margherita ($21++) pizza. The latter was tastier in our opinion, with crispy charred edges and a warm, chewy centre, all while maintaining a delicious balance of basil, cheese, tomato sauce, and olive oil.

2. Chi Acai

ChiAcai-cafe-flatlay

There’s nothing quite like an icy acai bowl to beat the heat in Singapore. If you agree, visit ChiAcai, a new DIY acai cafe in Pasir Panjang, where you can customise your own bowl with acai, chia pudding, and over 30 toppings.

ChiAcai-cafe-fruits

The first thing to consider is the base size: regular bowl ($10.90) or a large bowl ($14.90). There are five kinds of bases to choose from: Acai, Pitaya Sorbet, Coconut Sorbet, and Chia Pudding. Do note that there are five Chia Pudding flavours, including Pitaya, Matchia, Blue Moon, Green Magic, and Coco Vanilla Chia. After you’re done, go ahead and get as many fruits, superfoods, granola, and drizzle as you like. Some popular picks include pistachio drizzle, maple granola, and toasted coconut flakes.

keming-bing-sat-flatlay-interaction

Popular Hong Kong cafe Keming Bing Sat has opened a second store Funan Mall with their famous char siew rice, alongside a couple of outlet-exclusive dishes. In case you didn’t know, this is where you can try the “No. 1 Best-Selling Char Siew Rice in China” at a wallet-friendly price.

Keming-Bing-Sat-Cha-Shu-Rice

The Char Siew Rice is priced at $10.90++, comprising a plate of Wuchang rice topped with caramelised char siew, two sunny-side-up eggs, and some veggies. You can get this at both the OG Plaza Singapura branch and the newly opened Funan store. For something that’s exclusive to the Funan outlet, opt for the Prosperity Lava Polo Bun ($5.90++) or Lucky Peach Milk Pudding ($7.90++) instead, the latter packed with velvety smooth milk pudding.

4. Bomul Samgyetang

Bomul-Samgyetang-prep-shot

Korean food fans, here’s another new opening to check out: Bomul Samgyetang. This restaurant at CHIJMES specialises in ginseng chicken broth, served in 10 different flavours.

Bomul-Samgyetang-interaction

Our favourite was the Rejuvenation ($36++) broth, featuring black garlic, chestnuts, red dates, gingko nuts, and ginseng. The soup was subtly aromatic and surprisingly light! For something punchier, we recommend the Spicy Cure ($32++) instead, made with spicy chilli peppers for that extra kick. For sharing dishes, you won’t go wrong with the Minari Pancake ($22++): a thin, crispy pancake that highlights fragrant Korean water parsley. Round off your meal with a scoop of Bomul Ice Cream ($6++), available in either Ginseng or Signature Black Sesame flavour.

Their menu spans a whopping nine drink categories, comprising milk tea, fresh milk lattes, smoothies, fruit blends and more. If you’re unsure of what to get, their signature Jumbo Boba Milk Tea Smoothie ($6.80) is a must-try, starring ice-blended milk tea topped with XL grass jelly pearls, tapioca pearls, and a drizzle of sweet cream. If you’re craving a light snack, get this with one of their fluffy egg pancakes, such as the Creamy Cheese Pancake ($3.80 for two, $7.50 for four), which comes filled with a rich and creamy cheese core.

6. Ban Lan

ban-lan-storefront

If you’re feeling bougie, head over to Ban Lan at Scotts Square in Orchard. Hailing from China, the Michelin-approved restaurant is known for its speciality Hokkien dishes, including meat and seafood dishes, each crafted with fresh ingredients to showcase the flavours of Fujian cuisine.

ban-lan-steamed-crab-with-hokkien-glutinous-rice-cake-establishment

The Buddha Jumps Over the Wall ($156++) is a standout dish, featuring a rich and fragrant broth filled with sea cucumber, abalone, mushrooms, quail eggs, scallops, and silky fish maw. For mains, we recommend the Steamed Crab with Hokkien Glutinous Rice Cake ($89++/$169++), for soft, delicate crab meat paired with creamy crab roe and a generous portion of stir-fried glutinous rice. There’s also the Tie Guan Yin Tea-Smoked Crispy Sesame Chicken ($46++/$79++), starring juicy, fall-off-the-bone tender meat, infused with an aromatic roasted sesame and Anxi Tie Guan Yin tea seasoning.

7. Partage Patisserie

partage-patisserie-flatlay

Run by award-winning pastry chef Terence Lin, Partage Patisserie is a cosy little cafe in Lavender with artisanal French pastries and petit gateau, AKA layered French cakes filled with cream. Each cake can be purchased individually for $9, but for the best deal, we recommend buying them in sets of two or four for $17 and $32, respectively.

The Matcha Blossom Petit Gateau is a popular choice, pairing a crunchy hazelnut base with layers of vanilla sponge, vanilla cream, and strawberry confit, before being topped with matcha whipped cream and fresh strawberries. Our favourite flavour was the Rocher Petit Gateau, a decadent combination of chocolate sponge cake and silky chocolate mousse and cream paired with a nutty hazelnut base and caramel glaze.

The Savoury DIY Toast ($8.90) allows you to pick your base, from egg mayo to crispy sunny-side-up,  and customise it with toppings such as sous-vide chicken breast (+$5) or sauteed mushrooms (+$4). Alternatively, choose from the cafe’s lineup of open-faced shokupan toasts, served with fries or salad. A popular pick is the A5 Sukiyaki ($28.49), featuring Japanese A5 Wagyu, yuzu kosho gribiche sauce, sous-vide egg, and a charred leek salad. There are two price tiers: $8.80 for the Original, a permanent fixture on the menu, and $9.80 for the flavoured cheesecakes. During our visit, the Pistachio Berry cheesecake stood out; the nutty pistachio-flavoured cheesecake came with a sweet and tangy berry compote in the middle. The sweet-savoury Miso Caramel was another favourite, featuring a molten miso-infused caramel centre that complemented the creamy cheesecake. If you’ve got a birthday celebration lined up, consider their whole cakes, with a seven-inch round priced at $51.50.

Must-try desserts include the Tiramisu Vegan Layered Cake ($8.90), which combines soft and fluffy cake with layers of malty chocolate and sweet plant-based cream. They also offer pastries such as Pistachio Vegan Croissant ($8.70) and Matcha Vegan Croissant ($8.50) here! 12. Udon Shin

udon-shin-flatlay

Udon lovers, rejoice: the legendary Udon Shin has arrived in Singapore! Known to draw three-hour queues at its Tokyo flagship, this launch marks the famous handmade udon restaurant’s first international outlet. Udon purists will want to go for the Premium Tempura Kake Udon ($34++), a standard pairing of hot soup udon paired with assorted tempura. The platter comes with two shrimp tempura, four vegetable tempura, and a piece each of fish and squid tempura.

udon-shin-carbonara

Adventurous diners should definitely try the viral Carbonara Udon ($24++). Here, traditional udon with dashi is smothered in parmesan cheese and a slab of butter, then topped with a raw egg and a titanic piece of bacon tempura. Trust us when we say every calorie is worth it: the egg, butter, and parmesan cheese mixed well to coat the udon in a creamy decadence, while the bacon tempura was crispy on the outside and sinfully fatty within.

You can also get their Original Chicken and Soy Garlic Chicken, starting from $10.

kko-kko-green-chilli

The Kimchi Pancake ($12++) is a well-known favourite, and it was a winner here with its tangy, fermented richness and use of apples and pears. We equally loved the Giant Green Pepper Japchae (from $6.50)—a huge green chilli pepper stuffed with stir-fried Korean glass noodles and then deep-fried. Also, while you’re there, don’t miss the Korean Egg Bread (from $4.50 each), an extremely popular street snack in Korea.
