Korean BBQ restaurant Obongzip to open at The Star Vista
Good news, K-BBQ fans: Obongzip, the Korea-famous restaurant behind the viral XXL grilled tteok, is set to open its second Singapore outlet at The Star Vista in mid-May 2026. This comes just months after the brand made its Singapore debut at Tanjong Pagar Road in January 2026

For the uninitiated, Obongzip is a household name in Korea, boasting over 300 outlets across the country.
If the Tanjong Pagar outlet is anything to go by, you can expect a lively, buzzy dining atmosphere at The Star Vista too. The original outlet is a spacious restaurant decked out with long tables and a bold Korean signage that gives it a straight-from-Seoul feel. It comfortably seats around 50 diners, though it fills up fast during peak hours.
The chain first turned heads here for its XL Grilled Tteok ($28)—a palm-sized traditional Korean rice cake that’s lightly crisp on the outside, soft and chewy within, dusted with injeolmi powder and served with a honey dip on the side.
Beyond the viral tteok, the restaurant is also well-loved for its Korean BBQ and hearty sharing platters. On our visit to their Tanjong Pagar outlet, we tried their Obongzip Special ($108++), which is the dish to order if you’re coming in a group.
The platter features three mains: Fire-Grilled Spicy Octopus, Bossam Pork, and Spicy Buckwheat Noodles, all accompanied by free-flow banchan such as kimchi, edamame, and chewy tofu skin. Diners can pick their heat level—Mild, Hot, or Extra Hot— so it works for both spice lovers and those who prefer to play it safe.
The Bossam Pork was a standout for us. The meat was incredibly juicy and tender, practically melting in our mouths after just a few chews. The Spicy Buckwheat Noodles were no slouch either, featuring chewy noodles tossed with cabbage, seaweed, and nuts, all coated in a sweet-spicy sauce.
The upcoming Star Vista outlet marks Obongzip’s expansion into the west, making it a whole lot easier for those in Buona Vista, Holland Village, and the surrounding areas to get their tteok fix without making the trek to the CBD.
