Cafe Kitsune brings French-Japanese flair to Pavilion KL with grilled cheese sourdough, earl grey cheesecake & more

Now, those who prefer going to Pavilion KL instead can enjoy the same refined experience, as Cafe Kitsune has unveiled its latest outlet there. The question of whether the cafe is French or Japanese is a fair one, but the answer lies somewhere in the harmony of both. 

The concept blends the charm of a Parisian cafe with the subtlety of Japanese aesthetics, reflected in the menu. Expect a curated lineup of brunch selections, desserts, pastries, and drinks ranging from coffee, matcha, and other refreshments.

Among the many well-composed offerings, the Grilled Cheese Sourdough with Mushroom Soup (RM35) deserves a particular mention. The sourdough, generously buttered and toasted to a golden crust with a warm, yielding interior, encases a rich spread of creamy edam cheese. 

The accompanying mushroom soup is made in-house, crafted from real mushrooms and cream, blended into a smooth, earthy bowl that’s bursting with umami without overwhelming the palate.

The dessert selection is equally delectable. The Earl Grey Burnt Cheesecake is a must-try indulgence. It’s creamy, fragrant, and crowned with a soft dollop of cream. 

Meanwhile, the Lemon Yuzu Tart offers a more invigorating finish, its citrusy centre laced with yuzu and topped with airy peaks of meringue. It’s light, bright, and wonderfully refreshing. It could be a little too sweet and sour though, if you prefer your treats to be more subtle.
