Ah Cai is a new DIY acai and ice cream kiosk at *SCAPE
The next time you’re shopping in Somerset and looking to beat the heat, head over to Ah Cai at *SCAPE. This new self-serve dessert bar allows you to build your own acai and ice cream bowls from $3.68!
Unlike most acai cafes, prices at Ah Cai are based on the weight of your bowl, costing $3.68 per 100g.
To start, fill up your bowl with either their Organic Acai or Ice Cream. FYI, both options are dairy-free, making them suitable for those with lactose intolerance.
For their ice cream, you can choose between two flavours: Soy and Dark Chocolate.
Liven up your bowl at their DIY station, where you can customise it with more than 20 different toppings.
Some toppings we recommend include strawberries, cookie dough, Lotus crumble, wafer rolls, Oreo bits and more!
If that’s not enough, finish your bowl with one of their eight house-made sauces. Popular picks include the Matcha, Pistachio, Cookie Butter, and White Chocolate flavours.
For our first bowl, we paired the smooth and creamy Organic Acai with a spoonful of cookie dough and granola for a delightful crunch.
The sweet acai tasted even better with a scoop of tart strawberries and a drizzle of toasty cookie butter sauce.
We also got ourselves a bowl of Soy ice cream, topped with blueberries, chocolate chips, Lotus crumble, and a drizzle of matcha sauce.
The light flavours of the soy ice cream paired best with the spiced Lotus crumble and earthy matcha sauce.
If you’re a fan of chocolate, we recommend getting the Dark Chocolate ice cream.
As someone with a sweet tooth, I enjoyed the decadent combination of the bittersweet dark chocolate ice cream, crispy cocoa-filled wafer roll, and milky white chocolate sauce.
Ah Cai is located on the second floor of *SCAPE, a quick seven-minute walk from Somerset MRT Station. It’s also within walking distance of Orchard MRT Station. Do note that there are no dine-in seats, but you can still enjoy your dessert at the mall’s atrium, which is furnished with cosy picnic chairs and tables.
