Manzanita Patisserie & Boulangerie is a popular cafe in Johor Bahru
Johor Bahru cafes hit different. Besides the affordable prices and wide range of food, the spaces are usually huge, and the cafes’ ambience is often commendable as well. One such cafe that ticks all these boxes is Manzanita Patisserie & Boulangerie, which has garnered over 1K reviews for both their Komtar JBCC and Eco Botanic outlets at the time of writing.
The current exchange rate is RM1 = ~S$0.30 as of 7 April 2025.

Matcha cafes have been all the craze lately, so we had to try their Hot Matcha Latte (RM10.80++), which came with a beautiful unicorn latte art and a bite-sized cookie. The latte is made using a generous amount of matcha powder with little to no sugar, boasting a delightful umami flavour. We recommend it for seasoned matcha lovers who can appreciate bitter, grassy notes.

We tried the Hot Mocha (RM13.80++), which lacked the sweetness we wished for. The chocolatey flavour was also lacking, but we still recommend this drink for those who prefer strong coffee notes in their mocha.
Drinks aside, some must-try desserts include the Mango Mousse and Passion Fruit Gelee (RM15.80++). Decked in a vibrant yellow, the layers of cream complemented the fresh mango fruit and mango jam, and those who can appreciate sweet-tangy flavours will definitely love it.
Alternatively, opt for the Earl Grey Red Velvet Mousse Cake (RM16++), which had a stronger tea-infused flavour than a sweet red velvet taste. There was a good balance between the sweet and earthy flavours, making this a great pick if you can’t decide what to get.
The Dark Chocolate Mousse Cake (RM13.80++) looks unassuming at first glance, but take a bite, and you’ll fall in love with the rich and bittersweet chocolate. We also liked that the cake wasn’t cloying at all.
Besides sweet treats, go for their freshly baked bread, savoury pastries, and hot dishes such as the Classic Beef Stew (RM25.80++), Manzanita Famous Fish & Chips (RM38.80++), or the crowd-favourite Grilled Corn Ribs (RM17.90++). The latter features grilled Cameron corn seasoned with house-made spices for a mouthwatering smoky flavour.
The cafe may look pretty ordinary from the outside, but step in, and you’ll find yourself immersed in a modern Bali-esque cafe with warm lighting and cosy ambience.
The Eco Botanic outlet is a 25-minute drive from JB Checkpoint, which isn’t the most convenient location, but the delicious food and inviting ambience make your trip worth it.
