Michelin Bib Gourmand Nasi Pandang
Founded by Hafidah Bte Daud, she spent most of her childhood around her mother’s small Malay food stall in an army camp. She and her husband eventually took over Muslim Delights and continued building a loyal fan base over the years.
Their Nasi Padang continues to remain popular to this day and they have since become one of the top choices for catering services at exclusive Malay weddings. They have even catered for celebrities such as Singapore-idol Taufik Batista and radio deejay KC!
ffering an array of scrumptious dishes ranging from meat and vegetables to sides, you’ll definitely be spoilt for choice. For prices, their main dishes range from $1.50 to $4 per portion while vegetables & sides range from $1.20 to $2. They also serve Ayam Penyet on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays and Nasi Briyani on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Wide Array Of Dishes To Enjoy
1. Beef Rendang
Starting with our favourite of the five, the beef rendang is incredibly tender and coated beautifully with the “lemak” coconut gravy. Each bite is greeted with a delightful burst of flavours from the spices and the perfect kick of heat. Additionally, the beef isn’t gamey at all, allowing you to enjoy it with ease.
2. Sotong Masak Hitam
One of their popular dishes, the Sotong Masak Hitam (squid cooked in squid ink) is definitely a must-try when here. The sotong is tender and bouncy without being too rubbery, giving it a delightful texture.
Cooked its own ink, the sauce has a good balance of flavours and isn’t too overpowering, allowing you to enjoy the natural flavour of the sotong as well.
3. Ayam Penyet
The Ayam Penyet (smashed fried chicken) has a nice crispy exterior while the crumbs give each bite an additional layer of crunchiness as well. Unfortunately, the meat is a little tough and dry, and overall lacking in flavour.
A unique Malay dish, the Paru (deep-fried beef lungs) is served in thick slices and is slightly chewy and tough. Delivering a hint of spice, the bits of fried turmeric give an extra depth of crunch and flavour while alleviating the gaminess of the beef lungs.
5. Sambal Goreng
Unlike some stalls, the Sambal Goreng here is served with tempeh, giving the dish a pleasant crunch. Cooked with your usual long beans and tahu, they are milder in flavour as compared to others. A popular nasi padang dish that you certainly can’t go wrong with.
