If you find joy in cartoon-themed food, then Floccus Floccus’ latest creation may just reel you in. Tucked within the lively streets of Chinatown, this pastry cafe is bringing a dose of Bikini Bottom to KL, turning SpongeBob SquarePants’ wide-eyed, blink-and-you’ll-miss-them background fish into angku kuih.

Long admired for its playful take on heritage snacks, Floccus Floccus has unveiled the Bikini Bottom Buddies, a limited-time series inspired by The Incidentals. These often-overlooked cartoon characters, famous for their startled expressions and frequent appearances in Bikini Bottom mayhem, are now centre stage in edible form.

The series features 2 distinct kuih designs: The Limp Fish and The Flat Fish, both priced at RM12. Each piece is sculpted entirely by hand, with such care and detail that they border on miniature art. Though they may look too charming to eat, their rich, chocolatey centres say otherwise.
The Limp Fish embodies a relatable kind of exhaustion. With its slouched posture, faraway stare, and droopy limbs, it reminds me of myself on a Monday morning.
The Flat Fish, on the other hand, arrives gracefully splayed out on a banana leaf, reminiscent of an ikan bakar presentation. Its doughy little pants, blank gaze, and flattened form make it entirely camera-ready.
Inside both designs is a smooth, dark chocolate filling — bittersweet and velvety in texture. The flavour pays homage to traditional red bean paste, yet carries a more contemporary richness that’s indulgent without being overly sweet.
There is a catch, however. These kuih are crafted in very small batches and aren’t meant for storage. They’re best enjoyed fresh, ideally right after that obligatory photo session.
To secure a set, reach out to Floccus Floccus on Instagram to place an order, before dropping by the shop in person for dine-in or takeaway. Availability is limited, and demand tends to outswim supply.

With past fan-favourites like siew yoke kuih lapis and seal-shaped yam mochi, Floccus Floccus continues to bridge nostalgia and tradition. Through humour, passion, and handcrafted detail, they prove that heritage snacks can still surprise us — even if they’re wearing pants.
