Chicken rice stans may be familiar with Tiong Bahru Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice, the legendary stall at Tiong Bahru Market. After receiving the Michelin Bib Gourmand award numerous times and opening several stalls across the island, the brand is taking its next big step with the opening of its first restaurant concept at Takashimaya Shopping Centre.

Opening on 21 November 2025, the new chicken rice restaurant offers what the brand is best known for, but with a few extra steps. Choose from the Hainanese Chicken Rice, Roasted Chicken Rice, or the Classic Hainanese Combo Chicken Rice for those who want both steamed and roasted chicken in their set—all three cost $10++ each. Then, you have the option to upgrade to Fragrant Basmati Rice ($0.50) or Fragrant Niigata Koshihikari Rice ($1) for those who want a slightly elevated experience.

This restaurant even has an Oven-baked Whole Chicken served with Japanese Rice ($60++). Suitable for four diners, this unique take is prepared with free-range chicken from a French poulet breed, so you can expect it to be even more succulent than the other chicken rice options here.

Other than chicken and rice, the restaurant also has outlet-exclusives such as Hainan Curry Fish Pot ($38++), Chilli Soft Shell Crab with Mantou ($23++), Homemade Ngoh Hiang with Shrimp ($15++) and more. If these dishes sound like they’d go great with chicken rice, consider checking out the restaurant when it officially opens!
