If you’re into Bangkok’s nightlife, or spend enough time on social media, you’ve probably come across videos of the famous “Thai Hot Guys” or “Hunk Seafood”. After 9 fun-filled years at Hua Mum Night Market, the restaurant is sadly closing its doors at that location on 31 July 2025.
On 2 July 2025, the owner of the Sathanameehoi (actual name of the eatery), Dee Wow, shared the news on his personal Facebook page. He assured fans that they’re not closing for good — it’s just that their lease at Hua Mum is ending, so they’ll be taking a break while looking for a new spot.
Then, on 6 July 2025, Dee made another announcement: the next location for Sathanameehoi will be in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This will be their first branch outside of Bangkok — and even outside Thailand!
While some people were excited, not everyone in Malaysia was thrilled about the news. Naturally.
Cue the mixed reviews. Sathanameehoi’s fame rests less on its prawns and more on its, well, pecs. The servers are famously bulky and clad in skimpy outfits, breaking into dance routines between orders. You can expect hip thrusts sneaked in between shoving your face with food.
Malaysian netizens, never shy with an opinion, quickly chimed in. While some were fine with the idea, many questioned whether bicep‑flaunting servers mesh with local dining decorum.
They were uncomfortable, saying that this kind of outfit and behaviour isn’t really suitable here. Few even said they should open in Singapore instead.
For now, the exact KL address remains under wraps. But one thing is certain, Sathanameehoi’s move to KL will definitely get people talking.
