1. Seoul Bunsik
True gimbap fans would have heard of Seoul Bunsik, conveniently located at Funan Mall. If you’re here mainly for the rice rolls, choose from five flavours: Original, Kimchi, Tuna, and Spam Cheese, all priced from $13.80 each, and the Veg, which starts at $12.80. You can also opt for either a half or a whole roll, depending on your appetite. That said, we recommend going for one of their lunch sets for better value. Set C ($16.90) stands out as the best deal, featuring half a gimbap roll alongside spicy rice cake, fried chicken, and Korean fish cake.

2. Sotbox
Those working or studying around Suntec City should check out Sotbox, a grab-and-go kiosk offering fresh gimbap from $9.50. The most affordable option is the Classy Classic, packed with egg, carrot, cucumber, pickled radish, and fish ham. If you’re after something heartier, go for the Beef Bulgogi ($10.50), which comes stuffed with marinated beef slices. There’s also a Spicy Beef ($10.80) version for those who prefer bolder flavours! To complete your meal, add on a cup of their crispy boneless Korean fried chicken, available in four flavours, including Sweet Garlic ($10.50) and Cheese & Sour ($10.50).

Oni Kimbap is a popular chain in Singapore known for its riceless gimbap. Instead of the usual rice filling, these rolls are wrapped with egg, making them a higher-protein, lower-carb alternative. There are nine flavours to choose from, including Bulgogi, Big Sausage, and Spicy Tuna, all priced at $12.90 each. If you prefer the classic version, regular gimbap is also available from $9.90. The flavour selection here is wider and more interesting too, with options such as Cheese Walnut ($10.90) and Spam Kimchi ($10.90).

Located near Bugis MRT Station is Meokja by JUNGGA, doling out Muslim-friendly Korean fare at wallet-friendly prices. According to its online menu, the eatery offers four types of gimbap, with the Chungmu Kimbap ($10.50) standing out as the most unique option. Unlike the ingredient-packed rolls many are familiar with, this traditional Korean dish features plain seaweed rice rolls served alongside radish kimchi and mildly spicy squid. Those who prefer something less adventurous can opt for the Chicken Sausage Kimbap ($7.50) or Beef Bulgogi Kimbap ($11.50).

Tucked away at Tanjong Pagar Plaza, Jo Ju Bang is a cosy grab-and-go kiosk run by a Korean couple. The menu focuses on gimbap, with a selection of mains and banchan available as well. Office workers in the area often stop by for the rice rolls, which come in flavours such as Vegetable ($8.90), Cheese ($10.90), Kimchi ($10.90), and Spicy Tuna ($10.90). To round out your meal, add a side of Japchae ($4.90), or opt for the comforting Eomuk Tang ($4.90) if you’re after something lighter and less carb-heavy.

Westies are lucky to have Nana Bunsik, a hidden gem at NEWest, serving up a wide range of Korean street food favourites. While the traditional gimbap options are worth a try, we recommend going for something a little more indulgent, such as the Crabmeat Mayo Gimbap ($11.80) and Fried Shrimp Gimbap ($12.80). The former is packed with creamy shredded crabmeat, while the latter features crispy fried shrimp that adds a nice crunch to every bite.
Don’t leave without adding a side of Tteokbokki ($6.80) or Sotteok-sotteok ($4.80), both of which pair incredibly well with gimbap. For the uninitiated, the latter is a popular Korean street snack, featuring alternating pieces of chewy rice cake and sausage skewered on a stick, then glazed with a sweet and savoury sauce.
