The National Environment Agency (NEA) has awarded Chicky Fun the contract to operate Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre under the Socially-conscious Enterprise Hawker Centre (SEHC) model starting Nov 16.

“This adds to the growing number of operators under the SEHC model,” NEA said in its social media posts on Monday (Aug 31).

Under the SEHC model, experienced food and beverage operators and dedicated hawkers come come together in a collaborative partnership to ensure that hawker centres remain viable and community focused while preserving Singapore’s hawker culture.

They provide affordable food options, curate a good variety of food that meet the community’s needs, and also organise events and activities to attract visitors and keep the hawker centres lively.

This will be the first SEHC run by Chicky Fun.

Chicky Fun, founded in 2013, runs a food court at Heartbeat@Bedok with 11 stalls, a cafe, as well as six food stalls across five locations.

“With its established F&B presence and fresh ideas, Chicky Fun is set to drive greater footfall and create a more vibrant hawker centre experience for both patrons and stallholders,” NEA said, adding that diners can look forward to exciting things ahead.

The agency also thanked Fairprice Group Hawker Centre Pte Ltd for managing the hawker centre over the past nine years.

Other SEHCs in Singapore include Jurong West Hawker Centre, Buangkok Hawker Centre, Yishun Park Hawker Centre, and One Punggol Hawker Centre.
