Fish soup fans are probably well familiar with Thai Seng Fish Soup, which has consistently drawn hour-long queues at Ubi. After more than 20 years, the brand finally expanded to a second location in Bugis in July 2026, so heartlanders in central Singapore can get in on the hype.

We also heard that a third location is in the works, so keep your eyes peeled for more information!
Do note that this is not to be confused with Tai Seng Fish Soup, another well-known fish soup stall with a nearly identical name.

Thai Seng’s fish soup is popular for its strong umami flavour, which sets it apart from the more traditional, lighter versions of fish soup. They’re also known for using freshly sliced batang fish for a superior taste.

The menu is pretty standard, with options including Sliced Fish Soup (from $6), Seafood Soup (from $8), and Fried Fish Bee Hoon Soup (from $6).

For a spicy option, the Tom Yum Seafood Soup (from $8.50) is a crowd favourite, thanks to its punchy flavour and balance of sweet, sour, and spicy notes. Other options include Fish Head Bee Hoon (from $6), Fish Belly Soup ($10), Fish Porridge (from $6), Double Fish Soup (from $6), and Sliced Fish Mee Sua (from $6).
Many regulars recommend getting the soup with ee mian and the “egg bomb”—deep-fried egg floss strip— which adds another layer of flavour and depth to the broth.
