Pastry lovers, there’s a new bakery cafe in the CBD for you to grab a quick brekkie before work. Hailing from Hong Kong, Mimmo Bakery has officially made its Singapore debut, bringing their French viennoiserie and Hong Kong-inspired bakes to Asia Square Tower 1—located right beside Shenton Way MRT Station

The brains behind Mimmo is Chef Domenico Giammarella, a Montreal-born pastry chef with French and Italian roots. That multicultural background is the bakery’s main identity and is reflected in their tagline: “Where East Meets West in Every Bite”.

Mimmo is hard to miss with its sleek glass frontage and eye-catching storefront. Marble-top tables and wooden chairs make up a spacious alfresco area; otherwise, you can head indoors, where the vibe is relaxed with cushioned benches, globe pendant lights, and a wooden staircase leading up to the second level.

Mimmo’s Egg Tart ($4) is their star item, comprising a croissant-style pastry with a flaky buttery shell—a step up from your standard HK egg tart. Think silky, eggy custard inside a shell with a delicate crunch.

Another must-order is the Pistachio Bolo Bao ($6), which is essentially a European pastry chef’s take on the classic pineapple bun. It’s a little more polished than your usual bolo bao, featuring a crumbly pistachio crust over a light and fluffy bao.

On the European side of things, the Croissant aux Amandes ($6) is a solid choice. It’s said to be crisp and flaky on top, with fragrant frangipane filling that’s sure to be a hit among almond croissant fans.

If you’re looking for something Instagrammable, go for the Matcha Raspberry Slice (price TBD), which stars neat layers of green and pink topped with cream and a fresh raspberry. Otherwise, tiramisu fans won’t be let down by Mimmo’s creamy version, comprising fluffly layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone.

For something more substantial, Mimmo also does a lunch menu with homemade pasta, sandwiches, and salads—all made fresh daily and starting from $15++.

Mimmo has only been open for a few weeks, so now’s the time to visit before the queues start forming!
