Tampines residents now have one less dining option after Maxim Tam Chiak Kopitiam closed its outlet in the neighbourhood.
The 24-hour coffee shop, which opened last October, had operated for a little over a year.
News of the closure was first shared by Facebook page I love Tampines on Sunday (Nov 1), where a netizen who visited the coffee shop confirmed that it had ceased operations.
“Hi all, I’ve checked and confirmed that all the stores are closed,” he said.
Others, meanwhile, shared their own observations.
“Knew it. ‘Cause every time I pass by [it’s] so quiet. I drive pass to go Ikea and it’s like a ghost town,” one wrote.
Another commented: “It’s not the coffee shop’s concept or branding that doesn’t work. That place is just a ‘dead town’ now. There’s new BTO estate, but the crowd is insufficient to support the business.”
Some diners also wondered about the future of their favourite stalls at the coffee shop, including the popular Jalan Wong Ah Fook Charcoal Curry Fish Head.
“What happened to the fish head curry? Does anyone know?” a netizen asked.
“I visited Jalan Wong Ah Fook about two months ago to try their curry fish head. It was pretty good and worth every single penny!” commented another, adding that he spotted “red flags” at the coffee shop when a 24-hour noodle stall stopped operating.

On the other hand, the coffee shop chain is opening a new outlet in another neighbourhood.
Calling out for vendors in social media posts in September, it said: “Tengah, we’re coming for you!”
The Tengah coffee shop will also be the biggest Maxim Tam Chiak Kopitiam.
Tam Chiak Kopitiam is a 24-hour coffee shop chain co-owned by local actor Chew Chor Meng and food blogger Maureen Ow, better known as Miss Tam Chiak, alongside other partners.
The brand, which brings popular and heritage hawker stalls under one roof, opened its first outlet in Hougang in July 2023.

With the closure of the Tampines outlet, Tam Chiak Kopitiam currently operates two outlets in Singapore — one at Punggol and another at Bidadari.
The Hougang outlet shuttered in May, as the co-owners chose not to renew the lease after it expired.
