Zermatt Neo Opens Restaurant With 8kg Food Challenge And Jett Barbecue Collab

Best known for taking on massive amounts of food in one go, competitive eater and content creator Zermatt Neo has started his very first F&B venture: OVER, which just opened along Tras Street.

over-flatlay

The new concept brings larger-than-life portions and crazy food challenges, in partnership with The Wolfpack Investment Holdings. They’ve already gotten an overwhelming response for their soft-launch reservations, so we had to visit and see what the commotion is about.

Fans can expect three portion sizes on the menu: Lesser for solo diners, Standard for sharing, and Challenge, featuring the largest servings, typical of Zermatt Neo.

over-rolling-over-wakame

We kick-started our feast with the Rolling Over Wakame in the Lesser portion for $10++. This featured spring rolls doused in a house-made glaze and topped with wakame salad.

The dish tasted just as interesting as it looked. The spring rolls were crispy and paired well with the briny wakame and subtly sweet glaze, making for a great start to our mukbang-like meal.

over-shroyu-clams

Up next we had the Shroyu-Clams! (from $35++). As a huge lala fan, this starter lived up to all my expectations. Though it came in the smallest size, the clams were anything but. Each one boasted a huge portion of meat, making it worth every penny.

The white clams were simmered and served in a buttery and garlicky shoyu sauce that was finger-licking good. It also came with slices of toasted sourdough to soak up every last drop of the rich sauce.

over-curry-me-over

Moving on to the mains: what really stole the show for us was the Curry Me Over (from $23++). My colleague and I marvelled at the sheer size of this dish, which Zermatt himself said was originally twice as big.

Atop the bed of rice lies a massive, tender, juicy cut of chicken drowned in nanban sauce that added a pleasant creaminess.

over-curry-rice

Portions aside, we were impressed with how fragrant the Hainanese-style curry was. Each grain of rice was slathered in the decadent curry zhup, leaving me wanting more after every bite. Despite looking extremely heavy, it was a well-balanced dish that ended up being our favourite of the evening.

over-wing-me-over

On the topic of chicken, we also had the Wing Me Over (from $10++). Each wing was tender and fried to maximum crunch. While the rub on the skin tasted a tad too salty for me, the teriyaki-like sauce on the side helped cut through the richness.

over-over-jett-burger

On top of OVER’s regular menu, the restaurant will also be introducing a rotation of collaborations with various local chefs and businesses. Marking their debut collab with viral local barbecue brand Jett Barbecue, the Over Jett (from $28++) features a burger stacked with Jett BBQ’s signature beef cheeks, crispy onion rings, fried eggs, and a creamy mayo dressing.

over-over-jett-burger-interaction

Much like how Jett BBQ only makes special appearances now and then, the Over Jett will only be available until 30 November 2026, so grab it while you still can.

over-drinks

Their drinks alone deserve a special shout-out—all of them come in oversized portions. We ordered the Japanese Highball ($13.80++) and Shochu Sour (from $12.80++), both of which came in extra-tall glasses and were refreshing thirst quenchers.

End your meal on a sweet note with their “secret menu” Mom’s Pie (price TBD). The pie flavour rotates every month, with this month’s being Apple Pie. The gooey filling within the buttery crust had a woody cinnamon flavour, and the frosting on top was light and airy, marking the perfect end to our meal.

If you’re game, go for the Ultimate Food Challenge (from $239++), where you take on an entire 8kg platter in one hour. Diners can give it a shot alone or in groups of up to four. Succeed and win a free meal, a spot on the Hall of Fame, a cash prize, as well as bragging rights.

OVER has a bar-like vibe, with high chairs and tables, dim lighting, neon signs, and a curated soundtrack—perfect for a casual night out with pals over some good food and drinks.

The restaurant is located conveniently in the CBD, just a short five-minute walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT Station or Maxwell MRT Station.

In other news, Singapore Coffee Week is back with free entry from 5 to 8 November. If you’re craving a sweet treat in the area, our Messina x Queic feature gives you the latest scoop on their limited-time collab.
