8days.sg understands from Bei-Ing Wanton Noodle hawker Yeo Song Khoon’s family that he has fractured his back after he was shoved to the ground by a customer at his Roxy Square stall.

We hear that the 73-year-old was supposed to remain in the hospital for monitoring after his medical checkup on Aug 16, but refused. He had to sign a form acknowledging the risks of leaving.

According to the family, his doctor has shared that surgery for Mr Yeo’s spine is the best option. They add that if the senior hawker declines undergoing surgery, he will require physiotherapy and medication instead.

Despite the injury, Mr Yeo returned to work on Monday (Aug 17), a day after his medical examination. The Roxy Square outlet subsequently closed today and tomorrow (Aug 18 – 19), and will reopen on Friday (Aug 20). His older son, third-generation hawker Ray Yeo, confirms that his father will be back at work on Friday (Aug 21). Details about the severity of the fracture remain unclear at press time.

Now that the medical results are out — why is the senior hawker going back to work so soon? More on that later.
