Punggol residents, here’s one more reason to head to Waterway Point soon. The popular Isetan Hanabi Matsuri is making its return from 30 June to 12 July 2026, transforming Village Square into a bustling Japanese food fair inspired by the country’s iconic summer fireworks festivals.

ICYMI: Here’s what went down at Isetan Hanabi Matsuri 2025!

At this year’s food festival, you can expect a line-up of authentic Japanese street food and sweet treats, with everything from award-winning karaage to freshly made takoyaki and mochi waffles on offer.

One stall we’re most excited about is Higo Marunoya, a four-time winner of the Kumamoto Fried Chicken Championship. Their signature Fried Chicken ($8.50), which made an appearance last year, is marinated with shio koji before being deep-fried for a light, crispy finish. New this year is the Fried Ebi ($4), featuring juicy prawns coated in thick, crunchy panko breadcrumbs.

Another must-try is the Takoyaki ($9 to $12 for six pieces) by Nakayama Shokuhin, served piping hot with generous bonito flakes.

Seafood lovers can also check out Ijima Shoten, known for its Braised Seafood ($11.50 per 100g), featuring octopus, soft-grilled squid, and tender scallops coated in savoury sauces.

If you’re after something a little different, don’t miss Hakko‘s Veggie Rice Bread ($5). Made with rice-based dough instead of conventional bread, these adorable buns are shaped to resemble the vegetables inside and have a soft, chewy texture.

Be sure to save room for dessert, too. Crepe Endo will be serving its Zunda & Cream Crepe ($8), while UMACHA has a refreshing Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte ($9.80). Other sweet treats include Muted Gelato‘s Mochi Waffle Bites ($9.50) and Sakekasunokuni‘s Burnt Cheesecake ($29), infused with aged sake lees for extra oomph.
